Typical side effects include cramping and spotting or light bleeding.
Potential risks include:
- Perforation of the uterus (if a surgical tool pokes a hole)
- Injury to the cervix
- Scar tissue formation in the uterus (which may impact fertility or cause painful periods)
- Infections
