At The Haven, we offer eligible clients free, confidential, limited OB ultrasounds. Each scan is performed by one of our licensed nurses and is designed to give you the answers you need in a safe, supportive space.
Why an Ultrasound Is Important
Ultrasounds use sound waves to create images of your uterus and developing pregnancy. This scan can give you key information, including:
- Viability – Is the pregnancy developing, and is there a detectable heartbeat? Miscarriages occur in as many as 26% of all pregnancies, and knowing this information will help you receive any necessary monitoring or medical treatment.
- Gestational Age – How far along are you? This is especially important when considering your options. For example, medical abortion is FDA-approved through 10 weeks of gestation only.
- Location – Is the pregnancy in the uterus? An ectopic pregnancy, which occurs outside the uterus, is rare but can be dangerous and requires immediate medical attention.
